"The people have over time developed its own gospel, derived not only from the four canonical writings but also from other apocryphal sources that have been around for a long time in Sicily. It is a gospel parallel, domestic, simple and straightforward, full of feelings and sentiments, where entering a Syncretism naive and imaginative angels and demons, saints and wizards. However, in essence, remains intact and appropriate the Gospel message, contained in the canons and clergy in the Christian conception of life. The prayers are reworked from scratch, according to traditional ways and forms of popular culture, and accompany the faithful at all hours of the day: from the moment he wakes up until the evening when he goes to sleep. The songs instead accompany him in work and prayer of the feast, the sacred rites of the Christian liturgy, and praise him even in the most exquisite art forms: theater, poetry, performances in the parish. "
